“ For all 12 years of my career, I’ve been working with grapes all the way through. At the beginning I started out with table grapes. I thought that table grapes were more charming and interesting as they were beautiful and taste great. It made me proud when I got praised and received good feedbacks from customers regarding table grapes I grew. I spend times around 5 years with table grapes and what I would like to do apart from general maintenance was to learn the differences in physical appearances and characteristics of each grape variety which I came in the conclusion that there were big differences between them. I had a chance to take responsibilities for wine grapes later on and my first impression with wine grapes was poor as the appearance and taste were not as good as table grapes. Believe me or not, I had my first glass of wine in my life and I didn’t like it because it was kind of hard to drink compared to beer and the taste was similar to Thai Sake (my impression at that moment). Until 4 years ago I had a chance to taste and learn more about wine from both national and international wine experts which led me to the conclusion that I will not be able to leave (wine) grapes for the rest of my life.
From my current point of view, wine grapes are extremely challending and require a great deal of skills to produce high quality crops that will turn in to good wine in a tropical country like Thailand as appearance and taste are not just factors like table grapes. Grapevines management in Thailand is a big challenge for me, from general maintenance, extreme weather conditions especially Monsoon rain are major problems for wine grapes production and this always drives us into multi task problems solver. My ultimate goal is to produce exceiptional quality wine grapes as raw materials to produce finest PB Valley wine according to the intention of Dr.Piya, the owner of PB Valley. I’ve spent most of my effort in problem solving and developing all resources of work under economic limitations in order to obtain good quality grapes in each vintage. There will be further continue in development as these is none such a word the best quality for wine grapes”
At PB Valley, we will continually develop and strive for the better, as there is no such word as the best quality for wine grapes.“ |
